Action for Dolphins

AFD works to stop cruelty to marine animals. We use the court system, lobby governments and bring high impact advocacy campaigns.

Action for Dolphins' is working to stop cruelty to, and gain legal protection for, small cetaceans (dolphins and other small whales). Our aim is to bring an end to unregulated and inhumane hunts that kill thousands of small cetaceans annually. Initially, we are focusing on the devastating hunts taking place in Taiji, Japan.

AFD is also campaigning to end the practice of dolphin and whale captivity as scientific studies demonstrate that dolphins and whales suffer in confinement.

We're also working to protect other marine life such as sharks, turtles and rays and we strongly advocate against the use of shark nets. Recent statistics demonstrate that shark nets have killed over 20,000 marine animals in NSW alone since they were first introduced.

One of our most recent campaigns focuses on cutting down the use of plastics and lobbying our governments and major retailers to ban the bag.
